I like this song and video, although the part at the beginning with the bootleg DVD thing was stupid. Also, this reminds me of The Strokes’ You Only Live Once video.
The song’s great though. Andre 3000 is doin’ the damn thang.

I think the song’s cool, the beat and the singing (holy shit, the hook is crazy!) but Big Boi doesn’t rap very good. His verses are boring.
The video’s kinda silly.
Yeah, that marching band beat is fuckin’ cool. And whoever this Scar guy is, he sure can sing.
Idlewild might actually be a good album.

Andre’s video is cool. A retro look, despite some CGI retardedness and that stupid intro, kept me watching. (even though the music was enough to keep me there) The bluegrass band (that is not displayed as his entourage, thank god) makes this wildly different and miles better than anything I’ve seen done in hip hop in a while.
Big Boi’s video though, was boring. Yes, it’s silly and the beat calls for something like that. But there comes a time where you can really get sick of Missy Elliot copycats. Somebody tell this guy to grab some balls and start making unique shit. Also, tell him to stop relying on his entourage to bail him out of boring the shit out of us.
Now… here’s where you compare two completely different things, and still actually give rap some credit. Despite what most intend, rap is still not coming up roses. Despite the fact that Big Boi is half of Outkast, he is still not trying hard enough. Andre makes it look easy.
What Big Boi gets wrong, Andre has learned way ahead of time. Andre is not selfish, but more along as smart. He has been planning to get out before the well went dry, and Big Boi’s still trying to get something out of it.
It’s not that Big Boi isn’t good, nor is he not talented. It’s more that he’s stuck in a business that is extremely closed. He can’t experiment without making 90% shit that will most likely sell.
I like the direction Andre is going, and I hope that Big Boi can find his place. His beat is hot, but in the game, a beat can only take you so far.

Gotta say though, Morris Brown is a cool song, despite the rapping. I read somewhere that Andre made the beat, which would explain its coolness.
